Extracts from his speech:
GROSS INJUSTICE TO TTAs. NFTE No1 enemy of TTAs:
If senior TTAs are my left hand, directed recruited TTAs are my right hand, cutting any one of it will be painful to me, declared Thomas John K, All India President FNTO at Nasik in a well attended meeting of both groups of TTAs. He explained in details how the mother NFTE and the child BSNLEU plotted repeated plans for scuttling the demand of diploma Engineers pay scale for technicians/TTAs, though their basic qualification was revised to Diploma Engineering in 1983 itself by DOT. FNTO’s commitment was so strong to over come all obstacles and the pay scale was revised only because of FNTO’s 25 years of restless efforts.
When the inimical forces failed in damaging the TTAs growth, a game was played to divide the cadre into Sr. TTAs and directed Recruited TTAs and successed in destroying the cadre. The BSNLEU instigated litigations has brought both senior TTAs and Junior TTAs saturating point without any promotions. Even in new promotion policy the TTAs are given a raw treatment while comparing to other cadres.
This most productive cadre of BSNL, the TTAs are entitled for justice. Management can not be a tool in the hand of these unions to deny their legitimate aspiration showing court cases. Mr. Thomas John promised that his effort will be to open a way for their growth.
Both groups of TTAs well received FNTO President. The meeting was presided by Mr. Shilesh Dande and conducted by Shri Shirish Parnerkar.
Thomas John K, All India President at Barahamathi - Maharashtra:
Extracts from his speech:
EDP Scheme only way to uplift the Sr.TOAs.
Addressing a massive meeting of BSNL employees at Baramathi, Maharashtra, Br. Thomas John K President FNTO said the introduction of Electronic Data Processors Stream in BSNL will not only uplift the Sr.TOAs, but it will be a boom to the productivity of the BSNL. He said that the EDP Stream with higher pay scales and 5 promotions from Data Processors to Superintendent was approved by the 5 ministers committee for the Sr. TOAs. But both NFTE and BSNLEU scuttled it. NFTE asked for competition examination for upgrading Sr. TOAs to EDP scheme and done nothing in 2002-2004 when they are recognized, while the BSNLEU refused to accept the scheme, even though offered by the BSNL Promotion committee in 2007 headed by Mr. Shakeel Ahmed, Sr. DDG (SR). He said this is one of the reasons, why FNTO left their alliance. He new promotion scheme is unattractive and the upliftment of Sr. TOA is possible only through EDP scheme.
